Mary Cowger
Austin Moss Creations began with a single moss wall Mary created for a friend’s young son on the autism spectrum. Watching him become absorbed in its color and texture showed her that bringing nature indoors could affect more than how a space looks. It could change how someone experiences it.
A few years later, Mary returned to Austin with her two boys and began building moss walls from her garage. What started with residential commissions grew organically into larger commercial projects as architects, designers and businesses began finding her work.
Today, Mary leads the creative vision behind Austin Moss Creations, developing preserved moss installations for hospitality, workplace, healthcare and other commercial environments. Her work has been installed for clients including Hilton, Q2 and Meltwater, and AMC continues to evolve from individual commissions into architectural systems and repeatable commercial programs.
The company has grown considerably from that first wall, but the idea behind it remains simple: bring the experience of nature into the spaces where people live, work and gather.
